Three bedroom, two bath lovingly renovated, comfortable, stylish hacienda-type colonial town home in the historic Mérida Centro. Large rooms with 19 foot-high beamed ceilings and inlaid pasta tile floors. Located in the Mejorada neighborhood, around the corner from the Art School (formerly the train station), the Museum of Yucatecan Song, Popular Art Museum, and highly-regarded restaurants Los Almendros (traditional Yucatan cuisine) and Meson Del Segoviano (Spanish cuisine), as well as several Cocina Economicas and neighborhood produce markets. 10 minute walk to the Zocalo (Plaza Grande), the main Market (Mercado Lucas de Galvez), and an easy walk to the other neighborhoods, cathedrals, parks, museums and the Paseo de Montejo (the grand boulevard in Merida where wealthy hacienda owners built their city homes, now shops, museums, banks and restaurants). A great location from which to explore the nooks and crannies of Mérida.

The house features a Master bedroom with hand-crafted king size bed, antique night tables and armoire, Bose radio/CD player, ceiling fan and air conditioning. Two large, private, guest rooms with queen size beds (new pillow top mattresses), sizable armoires, night table, comfortable chair and writing tables, I-pod docs, ceiling fans and air conditioners easily accommodate family members or guests. The arched corridor open court yard in the center of the house includes a plunge pool and garden (mosquito netting covers opening above), potted specimen plants, breakfast nook with glass top table for four, antique furnishings, original artwork, ceiling fan, I-pod dock and fountain.

The living and dining rooms are tastefully furnished with a large dining room table that seats 8. You’ll find comfortable seating in the living room, a hand crafted sideboard (designed by the owner and built by a local craftsman), original artwork, ceiling fans and floor fans.

The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, glassware, flatware, high quality pots and pans and knives. It features a range, oven, refrigerator, toaster, blender/food processor, espresso machine, prep table with task lighting and ceiling fan.

NOTES

A Property Manager will greet you upon your arrival and is available for information, guidance and issues with the property. Additional housekeeping is available as arranged through the Property Manager.

Walking distance to the grocery store, dry cleaner, bus routes, Zocalo, many other parks, the Market, the Merida English Library and other daily living needs. 30 minutes to the beach (Progreso), 1-2 hours to Mayan Ruins, Haciendas and incredible local culture. One can easily get by without a car, walking to Merida ’s attractions and taking a bus, taxi or organized excursion to attractions outside of the city.

PAYMENT

  • 50% due to confirm reservation.
  • Refundable 60 days prior reservation.
  • For less than 60 days, refundable if the property is able to be rented for the given time period.
  • Balance due 2 weeks before arrival.
  • Payable by check (US) or via wire transfer.

DAMAGE / SECURITY DEPOSIT

A security deposit for damages as well as for excessive utility costs of $200 per week is required and is payable to the house manager upon checking in. The deposit is refunded upon check out minus any damages or overages.

UTILITIES

Electricity is very expensive in the Yucatan. Rental rates include a utility cost of up to $50 USD per week. Electrical usage that exceeds the allotment will be deducted from the security deposit. The meter will be read upon check-in and check-out.

RENTAL RATE

LOW SEASON (May 1 – September 31)
$600 USD per week (Addtional days are $85 USD, additional weeks are $300 USD)
4 weeks (1 Month): $1200 USD
Daily rate $140 (Minimum of 3 nights, $420)
Additional month $1000 USD plus utilities over $50 per week

HIGH SEASON (October 1 – April 30) (minus Holiday week... see below)
$750 USD per week (Additional days are $100 USD, additional weeks are $500 USD)
4 weeks (1 Month): $2000 USD (Including Holiday week)
Daily rate $165 (Minimum of 3 nights, $495)
Additional month $1500 USD plus utilities over $50 per week

2010/2011 HOLIDAY SEASON (12/18 - 1/8 and 1 week before and 1 week after Easter)
$850 USD per week (Additional days are $100 USD, Additional weeks are $500 USD)
For four weeks including the holiday week(s) $2100 USD
Additional month $1500 USD plus utilities over $50 per week
There's a one-week minimum stay during this season
