Casa Cho’hol

Property Type: Featured, For Rent

colonial vacation rental in Merida Yucatan Mexico

Here is a simple vacation home rental that is comfortable, cozy and located in the best Merida centro neighborhood for a trouble-free vacation or home-away-from-home.

The front living area is connected by a light-filled gallery to the rooms in the back of the house. The gallery has a ledge that runs the entire length… a perfect place for displaying art and artifacts, with natural indirect light from skylights up above.

The gallery hall opens into the dining/sitting room, to which the front bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette are all connected. Another bedroom is in a separate building in the back with its own bathroom.

All the bedrooms and the living room are air conditioned with mini-splits. The bathrooms feature Talavera-tiled walls and details, as does the kitchenette. Each bathroom has a spacious shower, toilet and sink.

The front bedroom features a tall ceiling with a clerestory window, air conditioning, a ceiling fan and a mosaico tile floor.

The central garden is small, but includes two citrus trees (lime and mandarin orange), as well as other tropical plants. A staircase on the side leads up to an airy bamboo-roofed terrace, with lots of space for sitting, hanging in your hammock and watching the sunrise and sunset. In the back of the garden, the smaller of the two bedrooms opens up directly to the garden.

Just outside the front door, Santa Ana park is only four blocks away, Santiago Park is five blocks away and both Paseo de Montejo and the Zocalo are within walking distance. Still, the house  is on a quiet street, with quiet neighbors that include a delicious neighborhood cocina economica, a tendejon corner store, and lots more. The location couldn’t be better!
